About us: PS 76Q is a Pre-K – 5 elementary school serving 500 students in Long Island City, Queens.

We are a TCRWP school and implement TERC Investigations math. We aim to ensure innovative, 21st-Century learning opportunities take place in each and every lesson. Our growing dual language academy now spans Pre-K to 2nd grade and will eventually service all grades. Administration is dedicated to providing top-notch professional development, and teachers take pride in the ownership of their own learning  to constantly grow pedagogical prowess.

We have an incredible Arts department: all student receive visual arts and instrumental (keyboard) music as part of their weekly specialties. Kindergarten and first graders enjoy violin lessons, while third, fourth and fifth graders take part in a wind ensemble. Our afterschool theater program stages regular productions, such as The Lion King and Annie. We also partner with outside dance residencies, including Alvin Ailey and Ballet Hispánico.

We round off students’ education with a slew of character-building programs and curricula, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), where students earn special incentives for demonstrating appropriate behavior and over 100 students check in and out with a personal mentor on a daily basis, and Sanford Harmony, which teaches kids to embrace diversity and resolve conflict through specialized strategies incorporated in everyday activities.
