Learning Specialist Position at The Allen-Stevenson School, Grades 4-6

The Allen-Stevenson School seeks Learning Specialist for grades 4-6 for the 2018-2019 school year. This position will report to the Director of Learning Resources.
  • Academic training in special education and/or learning differences.
  • Experience with a range of Ed-Tech strategies to promote learning.
  • Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction.
  • Skill at managing multi-faceted work within a supportive learning community.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Teaching study skills, reading and writing classes to grades 4-5.
  • Teaching a section of grade 4 Mathematics.
  • Push-in model to support English, History, Mathematics and Science content areas.
  • Participate on grade level teaching teams.
  • Assess and track student progress; provide students with accommodations, as needed. • Work closely with other members of the learning support team and Division Head.
  • Review evaluations and recommendations.
  • Coordinate learning plans.
  •  Maintain active communication with students’ families and outside support regarding students’ progress, challenges and learning needs. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field. • Master’s degree in education, special education or a closely related field is preferred.
