Summer Teaching and Assistant Teaching Positions at TC’s Hollingworth Science Camp

| February 7, 2018

Are you interested in strengthening your ability to integrate science into your classroom? Spend the summer launching bottle rockets or growing plants without soil! The Hollingworth Center at Teachers College hosts a Science Camp each summer for the month of July for 200 children in K-4th grades. This model program provides an opportunity for current TC students and alums to develop their expertise in the teaching of science to young children. Teachers gain hands-on experience in the classroom with colleagues as well as participate in formal staff development. This camp-school hybrid program provides children with a balance of hands-on science activities, structured outdoor play, read-alouds, field trips, art, and center time.

We are looking for enthusiastic applicants who desire the opportunity to gain hands-on experience bringing science to life for young children (grades K-4). We desire applicants who are committed to working with children, developing as a teacher, being part of a team, and implementing innovative science curriculum. We believe that all primary elementary teachers do have and must have the capacity to teach science, and therefore a science background is not a prerequisite to apply. We have co-head and assistant teaching positions available. Co-head teachers must have head teaching experience. All staff members are current TC students or TC alums and all positions are paid.

If you are interested in applying, please send your resume to our graduate assistant Lauren Fox at <alf2138 at tc dot columbia dot edu>.  Interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis.
