School Summary:  Harriet Tubman Elementary School (CS 154) is a Pre-K to 5 school. The school’s mission is to provide a safe, child-centered environment, focused on educating all students to become literate, critical thinkers and independent learners through excellence in teaching and learning. With strong commitment to academic excellence, we will ensure that our students will be college and career ready as they engage in challenging tasks.

Overview of Open Positions (3):  The school currently has two openings for 1st grade teachers and one opening for an early childhood (PreK – 2nd grade) ESL teacher.

Key Responsibilities for Open Positions:

  • Operate professionally, in accordance with school’s Staff Handbook
  • Plan and deliver instructional plans that are rigorous, coherent, and meet the different needs of students
  • Develop, administer, analyze, and respond to formative and summative assessment data to ensure that students are well-supported in a timely fashion through the differentiation of instruction.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to collaborate with colleagues in the development and teaching of highly engaging, academically rigorous curriculum and lessons aligned with NYS CCLS and routinely responsive to students’ needs; and use of assessments to drive instruction.
  • Keep accurate and organized records of student information
  • When absent, ensures all substitute plans are clear and thorough
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed, as well as on-going parent communication
  • Support planning for and attend Curriculum Nights and Back to School Night
  • Establish and uphold classroom routines to ensure a focused, safe and caring environment; and ensure the safety of students at all times
  • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch and playground duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities
  • Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and routinely translate that learning into classroom practice.
  • Inspire students to hold themselves to high standards of academics and character
